Hello Fabulous Kurilpa Families!

It is with mixed emotions that I get to share the exciting news that Julie “Rikki-Tiki-Tavi” Segal has accepted the post of District Commissioner of Ekibin District. For the unfamiliar, the other Scout Groups in Ekibin are Tarragindi, Salisbury, Clifton Hill and Nursery Road.

This is most excellent, as it means we’ll have the benefit of a dedicated DC who can focus on our district. Previously, Warren “Raven” Hope was wearing this hat whilst also serving as DC of Toohey Forest District, which was a lot to have to carry.

This means that Kurilpa loses its long serving Assistant Group Leader (formerly Group Leader) and Leader in Charge of Cub Scouts. Julie has provided many years of service to the Group both as Group Leader and Leader in Charge of Cub Scouts, and I’m personally grateful to have been able to have her around to facilitate an orderly transition in as Group Leader. Fortunately, we’ll still see her around, just in a different capacity, and as my boss again :-)

Julie will continue to lead the Program Parent Patrol and help facilitate adventurous activities for the group (and district!)
